Steel guitar by no one else than the Finnish musician legend Olli Haavisto who recorded and released music with eg Jim Pembroke Band, Hoedown, Tuomari Nurmio and others. Multi-instrumentalist Olli is the older brother to Janne and performed at this Helsinki Festival concert as the special guest of the evening. The Blassics

The Blassics play original funk with afrobeat elements. The band coming from Hämeenlinna in Finland perform probably the grooviest Ethiopian jazz-inspired music I've ever heard in my life. At this occasion, the seven-piece live band was part of a Funky Amigo event at the urban food district Teurastamo in Helsinki.

Linkoban

Ling Ly passed away from aggressive cancer in the beginning of the year 2016. She turned 30 only. Our sincere condolences.

The emerging rap talent Linkoban was one of coolest Danish acts taking over the world with grime-pop. The grime music style Ling Ly (aka Linkoban) adopted in the UK where she has lived for three years tuning her British accent. When Ling returned back to her hometown Copenhagen she started collaborating first with rap artists Lucy Love and music producer Yo Akim.

Linkoban's music is a unique experience, both live and on her records. Linkoban's debut EP "Super Into On It" was accompanied by impressive music videos raving through many online blogs and on music television stations like MTV. With her energetic performances on festivals like Roskilde, Strøm and in China (where she has been banned). Linkoban released her debut album "Ox" in 2013.

More info on www.facebook.com/Linkoban.

Linkoban was interviewed by Hyper Safi in Copenhagen at Strøm in 2012. The event was presented by Vega and Malmö Stad with the support of the Copenhagen Municipality.

Photography and fragments of “Super Into It”, "One Trick Pony" and "Like This" music video were used thanks to the courtesy of Martin Jensen and Linkoban.

Idiotape

Every year I learn about new styles and bands. Let me introduce to you Idiotape from South Korea. These three guys are the best electronic band I have experienced live this year. Their music I would describe as electro-rock. They got something authentic in their style; it's like a crossing between Daftpunk meeting Chemical Brothers, and something else unique. Certainly, their sound is addictive, and I was euphoric to see them in their first ever concert in Northern Europe.
